LSK Meets with CS Farida Karoney

The Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning (MoLPP) and LSK Nairobi Chapter joint liaison committee held it’s monthly meeting on on Thursday, December 17, 2020 to review progress on Lands transactions. The following issues were discussed:

1.Uncollected documents
The total number of uncollected documents stands at 1064. Advocates are urged to provide working telephone numbers on the booking forms to facilitate effective communication.

2. Transaction backlog
The current number of unprocessed transactions stand at 210  Nairobi Registry and 649 Central Registry. We agreed that the transactions will be cleared in the coming week.

3. Ngong Registry
The Committee was informed that there was need to reorganize the Registry as well as expand it’s infrastructural and personnel capacity and will resume offering services after the reorganization. The Ministry’s team together with the LSK Nairobi Chapter will visit the Registry in the New Year, 2021, to assess the progress made towards the reorganization of the Registry.

4. New Registrars
Nairobi Registry has received an additional 16 Land Registrars. We expect faster services once the Registrars are fully inducted.

5. Expansion of the Liaison Committee
The team agreed to set up Joint Liaison committees between Land Registrars and Advocates in Kiambu and Thika to address practice issues within the local land registries.

6. Meeting Registrars
Advocates who have issues and require to meet one on one with any of the Registrars are advised to use Room 102, first floor, Ardhi House, to meet with the Registrars.
